"The Macroeconomics of Microbreweries" by The Council of State Governments
We recently came across this article posted in the Council of State Governments that explores craft beerand its' impact in three states: Oregon, Alabama, and North Carolina. We thought we'd share it with our readers as It really captures just how far behind Texas is relative to other states.
A very poignant paragraph details how craft breweries are beneficial to the states, something we know is possible in Texas, if we can change the laws holding breweries and brewpubs back:
"Those breweries also can mean big business for states. Craft brewers provided almost 104,000 jobs and created $8.7 billion in retail sales across the country in 2011. According to state brewing associations, craft brewing contributed $3 billion in total economic impact in California in 2011. In Texas, it generated almost $76 million in sales and $16 million in state and local tax revenue."
